The Sandman Season 2 - Closure is a beautiful thing

Please note: This review is based entirely on the Netflix adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s graphic novel . "I am so sorry for your loss. For all of your losses." Farscape and Culture Shock Theory

" Brush them, I want to brush my teeth!" But to manually clean your teeth is highly inefficient. "That's too damn bad. You're not sticking that freakin' maggot in my mouth! " Chances are that few other Farscape fans would choose this encounter with a minty-fresh caterpillar as a defining moment. But if you ask me why I feel a particularly strong connection to John Crichton and his journey, it comes down to this: Farscape allows its lead character to undergo a realistic culture shock process - something I have experienced and witnessed repeatedly throughout my life, but in fiction, especially in sci-fi is often either misrepresented or disregarded entirely. Vienna Blood - Thoughts on the German dubbing

What a disappointment. Almost all of the German speaking cast members did their own dubbing, which would have been a wonderful opportunity to allow them to speak in a way befitting their characters, seeing as they already knew them so well. But instead, the translation is lukewarm, uninspired, and most importantly without the slightest hint of Viennese. This takes away so much from the ambience, and completely undermines the unique feel of a place in time that is otherwise perhaps the strongest element of Vienna Blood. For those of you who are unaware of the difference in language between 1907 Vienna and 2021 TV Germany, imagine Judy Dench in Downtown Abbey dubbed by Zendaya as MJ from Spider-Man.
